I’m not trying to be confusing here, but I think this is super important.  A person who can’t "worship" God because she doesn’t like the music (regardless of it’s praise or adoration of God) is worshipping the form over the object.  When a student can only "worship" God at camp because that’s the only place they think people really love God, he is worshipping the form over the object.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for great praise and worship music and as a youth pastor, I love the impact camp has on my students. But neither the music nor the camp can take the place of the God is alone is worthy to be praised.

As you head into this weekend I challenge you to make certain you are worshipping the true God of Heaven and not the form that you like best.  Make certain that what happens at this weekend’s retreat or church services is worshipful, not because the pastor said what you wanted, or because the speaker was funny or because the music was your favorite.  Instead, make it worshipful because you were living a life pleasing to God, offering yourself as a living sacrifice so that the words you sang, the changes you made and the service you performed will truly be about Him and for Him.

Don’t worship the form, worship the Creator God of the universe who alone is worthy of our praise!
