Confession and AccountabilitySo what do we do? Let me offer some steps along the path. If you have confessed over and over to God, but not to a brother or sister in Christ–God doesn’t need to hear your confession anymore. You have confessed to Him over and over again, but you have not changed your ways (which is repentance). You need to confess to another brother or sister in Christ. If you are married, you need to confess to your spouse. Confession with our brothers and sisters is a must. It’s not that confession to God isn’t important (it absolutely is), but a fallen brother or sister in Christ can remind you of God’s love, compassion, and forgiveness. God created us, He knows how stupid we can be sometimes, but somehow there is healing that can happen when we share our struggles with other believers. Our brothers and sisters can (and need to) keep us accountable. Be transparent with them. Tell them the real truth. Don’t glorify it. Just share your heart.

Wow, I just re-read this again today and realize how much of my own struggles today continue to come out of this tension — my pleasure or God’s will. Ultimately God’s will is the greatest pleasure yet somehow I get caught up in the world and can’t see it even though God often puts it right in front of me! Thanks for your honesty and transparency, I hope we all start living without masks!
