Jesus didn’t die so that you could get your fire insurance and then live however you wanted.  In fact, Jesus died so that you could live the life God called you to because without Jesus’ help, it would be impossible!  So Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:15

And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.

If you have put your faith in Christ your battle is not the tension between heaven and hell, it is in the tension of the temporal versus the eternal and where your focus will be in this life.  So end today by taking out your two lists and praying over them before God.  On the one column, thank God for His work in your life and for the victories He has already given you.  Thank Him for helping you overcome the world’s pull and helping you live out-of-balance in those “Focused on heaven” items.  Praise God in your prayer.  Then pray over those areas that are under the “Tainted by the world” heading.  Pray for God to help you make the right choices, to help you recognize your own sinful patterns, to help you rely on His Spirit to say no to the flesh so that soon, those too, can be moved under “Focused on heaven”.
