I want to urge you to surrender your anger to God.  It’s possible.  Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:5 that we can,

take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ

including our anger.  God commands it.  God enables us to do it.  And God helps us accomplish the task of replacing our anger with the same qualities He Himself possesses in abundance.  The question is, will you and I choose to overcome the tension of what we feel (anger) and what we know we should do (gentle response) when they are in conflict?  End today by meditating on the following Scriptures all dealing with anger.  May God bless you as you apply His Word to your life and break free of the tension that holds you back!

Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
       do not fret—it leads only to evil — Psalm 37:8

Better a patient man than a warrior,
       a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city — Proverbs 16:32

Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit,
       for anger resides in the lap of fools — Ecclesiastes 7:9

A gentle answer turns away wrath,
       but a harsh word stirs up ange — Proverbs 15:1

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry — James 1:19

In your anger do not sin:  Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold — Ephesians 4:26-27

    wow. Lord, give me the strength to deal appropriately with my anger and help me to teach my children the appropriate responses, too.

    I really enjoyed the lesson on anger, it can rule your life until you turn your reactions over to God…He really can help!

    Going to a public high school many times through out the day i hear teenagers making fun of other kids. One of the things that really bothers me is when people are mean to the under – dogs, it just kills me. Last week i changed science classes and today was my second day in class. I am surrounded by five new people and during class they would just make fun of the other people in the class. It made me sooo extremely mad. And i wanted to lash out at them and throw insluts at them to make them experience the pain that they were causing on other people…but i knew that that wasn’t exactly how God wanted me to deal with the situation, and that by flipping out on them the Lord’s love wouldn’t exactly shine through me like He wanted. So instead i didn’t say anything..which i don’t think is quite the right answer either…but i’m praying that God will show me what exactly he wants me to say to the kids around me in a gentle way that will help get my point across.
