What happened after Christmas? Mary and Joseph they have traveled so far, only to end up in a stable to have the King of the world. The Savior is born. Does the inn keeper have bad dreams? When the Shepherd’s go back to the fields, are they changed forever? Do Mary and Joseph see if there is a gift receipt to return any of the gifts? Does the star disappear or fade into the distance? We know very little of what happens next. But what we do know is this: this baby marked history forever. His birth would start the beginning of a new era. His birth is the beginning of the transformational process that takes place in our lives. His birth is the beginning of God putting on human flesh. It’s where frailty and unspeakably great power collide. It’s where humility and greatness join. This baby is the glue that holds everything together.

John 1:14

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Colossians 1:17

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

During this Christmas week, let’s reflect on God’s amazing gift of Christmas by letting the Scriptures tell us the story. No pictures. No videos. No commentary. Let God’s Word speak to you. Take time to meditate on these passages, some of which are so familiar, but can become new with pause and reflection. Let the story of Christmas fill you with awe again as you read the Word each day. Merry Christmas!

Christmas is the “season of giving” and the time to remember the greatest single gift ever given — God offering up His one and only Son that we might gain access to Him. I was thinking about that glorious child being born in an animal’s feed trough. What a glorious gift wrapped in the simplest of adornments.

As you watch this video and listen to the lyrics to the song, ask God to speak to your heart. Ask Him to give you a fresh perspective on Christmas. It’s cliche to say, "Jesus is the reason for the season." Jesus is our life. That should even more obvious during this season.

It’s not often we use this site to share stories with you, but today is one of those rare exceptions.  As we continue to celebrate the great gift of Jesus Christ and anticipate the coming of a new year (I hope you as excited about the Tenth Dot’s upcoming New Year’s campaign as we are!  MUCH more news to come on that, stay tuned!), I want to share a great miracle with you that my son and I personally experienced this Christmas.

God introduced Christmas in Genesis 3, to Adam & Eve and then solidified the certainty of it in Genesis 12 & 15 to Abraham.  Now in Genesis 49, we see the faith of Abraham’s grandson Jacob, as he promises the Christmas blessing to Judah, Abraham’s great grandson.

God’s first promise of a coming Savior is found in Genesis 3.  The second major promise comes in Genesis 12.  Look at these amazing words:

And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.

It’s not too often we think about Christmas in the book of Genesis, but that’s where the Christmas story starts.  So for the next few days, let’s look at the start of God’s amazing Christmas story from the book of beginnings.

As Christmas approaches and anxiety arises it seems like this might be an appropriate verse for us to ponder today.

Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
