PROGRESS

Living for today but planning for tomorrow

Day 2 of 28 (start at day 1 by clicking HERE)

Today we are going to discover some vital life lessons from the book of Haggai. This book will give us powerful insight into becoming the people God has designed us to be. It is only as we uncover the treasures within the Scriptures, that we will be able to progress in the faith. Listen to the word of the LORD.

Haggai 1:3-4

Then the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai: "Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house [God's house] remains a ruin?"

Matthew 6:31-33

"Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and He will give you all you need from day to day if you live for Him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern”

Lord, I will talk to my children about You (more than just praying at meals) at least once a day, teaching them about who You are.

Lord, I will use our house to build your Kingdom. I will start a bible study here, once again. Please show me, who, when, and what.

God, I choose to build into the lives of my kids in a bigger way. I will also enter into deeper and more meaningful friendships with the people you have put in my life. I choose to let go of my selfishness and being superficial so that You can do a new thing in my life and relationships. My time and my life are YOURS!

Very excited to start this year off right. Lots of changes (but exciting ones) coming my way very quickly. These 28 days will be just what I need. I started a blog today to journal during these 28 days-and I will be faithful to it-so I can look back on it at the end of this month to see how I grew-to see how God transformed my life. God is good-all the time!

Lord, I know that you have told me before, “You are chosen by God and for God.” I have even said it many a times to my brothers in “I’ve Died Daily” as a way to remember where our inspiration comes from. I am struck by your words Lord. I am nearly at a loss to express what I am feeling. I want nothing more than to please you with my life, you are my Father, my Abba… I know I don’t deserve any of the things I have, yet you gift them to me out of love.

Lord I know you have greater plans for me than I could ever fathom. Thank you for helping me get back on track with my Bible reading and praying with my wife. Please help me to be consistent with these devotions as well. Lord God, I want to make ready the fields for your growth that I may then harvest. I want to reap what you will grow. Lord I desperately want you. Please help me to remember you in all I do for the sake of Your Kingdom and my family.

    I love you Lord.
    AMEN!

To build the kingdom of God…
I will show love and reach out to my friend, praying that she may accept Christ.
I will use the gifts God has given me for HIM.
I will ask God to guide me in following His will and show me opportunities He has already given me to build His kingdom.

Lord, please help me open my eyes to the numerous opportunities you give me to share my faith with the people around me, and to do so for their benefit and not my own. Remind me that i need to show others You through my actions and words. Please help me also see the ways you have given me to grow closer to you so that i can use those resources to having a better and stronger relationship with You.

Lord, I know in the past I built my house before Yours, but by building my house on the sand it crumbled to pieces! You have been so faithful in restoring my life and changing me to be the women You have created me to be, and I know You are not done. I can feel as I sit here the Holy Spirit stirring inside me, telling me to get ready and Lord though I may never be ready, I am willing. I know the plans You have for me this year are greater then I could ever dream, guide me to them and through them so that my journey will bring You glory and honor and praise! I have lived my life for me and I destroyed so much by leaning on my own understanding. Gently remind me and correct me when I attempt to do my will and not Yours. Examine my ways and open my eyes to changes that need to be made. Bring people into my life that I can build Your kingdom with and who will hold me accountable to follow through. I know You have placed on my heart to serve and care for Your orphans and hurting children, show me what to do. Help me be a kingdom builder each and everyday! Send me! I love you and I can’t wait to see what You have in store!

God – Help me to be the leader of my house here on earth. Help me to build your house. Help me to be a better teacher and father to my children, so they can grow to focus on you and not the things of this world. Thank you Father.

Dear Father, I don’t know how we’re buildling your Kingdom by being where we are, and it does seem like we’re mostly just working or looking for work. Please show me ways I can serve where we are. Give me courage to reach out to my neighbors, and make the most of our short time here. Please, Father, help us to continue doing our devotions together and to find Exponential joy while doing so.
