I don't think God wants me to be a pastor or anything, but maybe He wants me to "pastor" others by writing devotional thoughts for girls I have ministered to. I also want to open our home to my friends and start a Bible study for seekers. I don't know if there is a place for this, but I know Jude says that sharing the gospel increases our own faith. Lord, I want my zeal for You to increase and my effectiveness for helping the Body of Christ to grow. Please show me how. I am also taking a step into a book study at church regarding moderation. I don't know if I need it or if that particular thing is what the Lord would have me focus on, but I want to see where it goes. It's primary purpose is to challenge women to turn to God for our fulfillment, not food. I haven't been struggling with that as I used to, but I wonder if it's just because life isn't particularly stressful right now. However, I have a hunch that when life gets stressful again I will be prone to eating unhealthfully and not living in moderatoin because I am not turning to the Lord. Thankfully this devotion is helping me do that more, but I think the small group will provide more support, challenge and accountability.

Father I want to ask tonight that You give each of us on this 28 day journey wisdom and discernment as we move forward and as we draw closer to You. I know Your deepest desire is to have a close and personal relationship with each of us and that You have paid the greatest price in order to make that possible. Help us to recognize Your presence in our every breathing moment, help us to ignite the passion Your burning within us, and help us to discern the purpose You have designed us for and to fearlessly pursue that all the days of our lives.

I agree, hearing God is something I have struggled with as well. I know that He speaks through His Word, but it so easy for me to read it and just get my own application out of it, rather than receiving HIS revelation. I think what's the hardest for me to admit is that, though I commit time to spend with God each day, it feels like I am controlling the relationship rather than God directing me. I need to let go of this control and ask Him what He wants for my life.

I have a desire to minister to others: the junior high girls I meet with at school, friends I want to encourage in the Lord, friends who don't know the Lord, kids I teach at church. Yet simply going out and doing - on my own power - is not what God desires for me. Lord, how do You want me to use these opportunities You have given me? Where would you have me serve?

Please continue to direct me into my future. In some ways I have taken the first step - I have not heard a "no" from You, and yet sometimes it's hard for me to hear Your direction. Is this where I should go?

Lord, show me what You want for my life. I want to give You all the glory.

Rachel
God is going to do amazing things through you. Remember that He is in the midst of your distractions and the chaos of our lives. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Have a wonderful day.

Lord I pray that you would guide me through each day and that I will listen keenly for your voice leading me to your will the path youmade for me
Help me Lord as School starts back up again and distractions arise next week to keep focused on you 24/7, not just when I am at church or with other followers that I would be proud to share my faith to all that ask and not hide from the truth you gave us all
In your name I pray,
Amen

Lord help me. You know my heart; You know I have fears that are unfounded. You know I get lost in my anxiety over financial matters. Lord you give more than I need yet I still have these ridiculous fears.

Lord help me. I need to show my wife greater care than I do. I need to be her friend. I need to love her sacrificially. Abba, I need you to love me, that I might then be able to pass on that love to others - Godly love.

Lord help me. I want my feet to be in the path you choose. I want to RUN to you like a child that hasn't seen his father for too long and just wants his Abba to hold him.

Lord be with me.

In Jesus name.

There are times where we here God clearer than other times. Throughout the Scriptures it is clear that God speaks to His people. Jesus says, "that His sheep will know His voice." In Psalm 19 it says,
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
       the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
       night after night they display knowledge.

3 There is no speech or language
       where their voice is not heard.

So we know that God can speak through His creation. In tomorrows TD you will see that God revealed things to His people through their thoughts

"[King David] gave [Solomon] the plans of all that the Spirit had put in his mind for the courts of the temple of the Lord and all the surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of the temple of God and for the treasuries for the dedicated things. -1 Chronicles 28:12

There are numerous ways that we hear God. Sometimes through a friend "wise counsel," sometimes it's through our minds, sometimes it's through creation BUT God will always speak through His Word-the Bible. I think this is one of the key ways that we hear God speak into our lives.

As far as God speaking and us listening. God always speaks first! He always initiates prayer. When we pray we are joining Him in a conversation that He has already begun.

I hope this helps. Have a wonderful day.

I am curious to see how you all hear God. This is something that I strive for.
I was reading a book for class and it reminded me that prayer is two-way communication. So many times we go to God with our requests & we do all of the talking. We fail to take time to listen to God speak to us. However, so many times I am quiet and listen for God, and hear nothing. Anyone have any practices they use to hear God?
I like today's study-and am excited for the rest of this journey.
