Think about the trials in your life.  What if today you started praying for God to help you go through them while growing in godliness, instead of asking Him to take them away?  What if today you stopped enduring them as accidents of life and started receiving them as incredible gifts designed by God to make you into the man or woman He is making you to be?

End today by listing some trials in your life.  Maybe they’ve recently passed or maybe they are brand new — either way, list our one or two.  Now, under each of these trials write out a prayer to God shifting your attitude from fear to faith, from running to embracing, from seeing them as accidental  mishaps to seeing them as divine opportunities.

Trust God with your trials and watch what He can do with the persecutions, adversity and suffering in your life.

WOW! I not only got chills but also teared up a little bit while watching that video. If only we could have such joy and faith as Patrick. I used to work with dissabled individuals & fell in love with them. I remember taking one of the younger boys home one day because my driver was sick, and I got to talking with his mom. She said that her friends & family told them to take her son to a facility & leave him there when he was born with Cerabral Palsy. But she didn’t feel right “getting rid of” her child (her only child). She went on to describe how much he had become a blessing to them in life-that no matter how much hard work it was to lift him several times daily (as they were well into their 50′s) and that they would have not been blessed in such a way as they are if it weren’t for their son.
I look back at trials and adversity in my life-some even recently, and I think how silly I am to react the way I do sometimes to things that are outside of my control. It’s interesting the timing of this devotional-as this past week I have just started to deal differently with adversity and suffering and to change my mindset. God is doing a good work in me, and I can’t wait to see how I handle the next trial! I’m not there yet to say that I can’t wait for the next trial, but I’m working on it. :-)
