Today, take some time to pray. Here are a few ideas for your prayer to hopefully get you to think about it a little differently:
- Write out your prayer, word-for-word and then share it with another brother or sister in Christ. Let them read and see your heart for God through the written prayer.
- Pray through your favorite Psalm. Read the Psalm as your prayer to God by changing all the pronouns to “me” or “I’.
- Take a prayer walk. As you walk, pray for that particular area of town. Pray for the homes in that area, or pray for the businesses. Take it a step further: Knock on the doors or enter the businesses and ask them if there is anything specific you could pray for.
- Pray the vowels: A: Admit to God any sin you have in your life — ask for His forgiveness. E: Exalt God and worship Him. I: Implore God. Ask Him for those things that are on your heart are on the heart of those you are praying for. O: Offer thanks to God for answered prayers. Believe in faith that He is going to give an answer and thank Him for that coming response. U: Utilize the Holy Spirit. Remember Romans 8 — the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness so that when we don’t know what to pray for, He helps us!
- Pray for all the spiritual leaders in your life.
- Pray for all those people in your life that need Jesus. Bring them up to God, by name, and ask God to take off the scales on their eyes and to open them to the Gospel of His Son.
- Pray to God on the hours. At the top of each hour, take 5 minutes to pray. If you did that during the work day, you would pray for over 40 minutes of your day.
The end of all things is near — pray!
