God doesn’t beat around the bush—He tells the Israelites plainly that they did not listen to Him. Now the beauty of Gideon’s question is that it leads Him into a deeper relationship with the LORD. God doesn’t allow Him to answer such a personal question—"if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us?" and then run from the solution. No, God calls Him way beyond His ability and uses Gideon to deliver Israel from the oppression of Midian’s hand.
