This woman’s entire life changed because she believed. Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." -John 6:29We are bound by our belief. Your belief in Jesus determines your actions in life. If I really believe that I am His child, how does that shape my life? If I really believe God forgives me, how does that shape life? God wants to shape your life, and it happens by having authentic conversations with Him. I am sure this woman did not need to be reminded of her shady past, but in love, Jesus talks to her about everything. Ultimately, Jesus reveals Himself as the One who has come to set her free, but she has to make a choice to believe. Have an honest conversation with God this morning. Let Him speak into your life as you put your trust in Him daily.

I remember the day that I truly believed in Jesus – my life has never been the same. I remember when I was addicted to drugs and serving in the church. I remember thinking that I could never tell anyone about my addiction because I was too concerned about what they would think about me. I knew that if I shared my true issues with people that I would get judged and my ego could not take it if people looked at me differently. I was always taught that my value was based on my performance. If my performance is good, I am valuable. If my performance is poor, I am not valuable.
But when I truly believed, I learned that my value is in my identity in Christ. My value is not based on performance but my value is because I am a child of God. Believing that my identity is in Christ changed my life. Believing that His grace is sufficient changed how I live life. I am free! Believing Him has set me free! The Bible says “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Now that I know that I am a child of God, I have been set free. This has changed the way I do everything.
I remember when I came clean on my drug addiction; I was so free when I released this information. I came to a place where I no longer cared about what others thought of me because I was walking in His light. I realized that He is my strength. I realized that any good that I accomplished is because of Him and He gets all the glory. I realized that that I am a sinner saved by grace and not by my actions. So the way I live now is completely different from the way I live before I believed in Him. I am now free! I am free to live for him.
Dear God,
Thank you for your grace!
I love you.

Lord God, my heart hurts.
Yet, I heard a song today on my way in to work-a country song-called “Sounds like life”-that tells the story of a man who is drinking away his sorrows & tells his buddy all of his troubles. His buddy just says hey-that just sounds like life to me-that’s not some tragedy-it’s just life. Lord, help me to see this. When we are in the midst of our own trials, that’s all we see. We are unable to get a perspective on things and look at the big picture-we just focus on our hurt or anger. Lord, please give me perspective-and help me to see that this too shall pass. Father, guide me along this path in life. Encourage me to live for you, and help me to gain perspective.
I love you Lord…
